My review is way too long. I think I have to start with the last thing first, so you will know this: Melody has a great sense of humor and makes me laugh!
And she is an awesome trainer!
I started going to Melody for training in January 2008, and although I can’t believe a year has passed, it’s time for an update.
Melody changed my life. I seriously was at the end of the line and not sure how to proceed because breathing had become so difficult for me. And finding Melody was for me like the answer at the end of Slumdog Millionaire, why did I happen to find Flawless Fitness and pick up the phone that Sunday afternoon a year ago: “It is written”.
What makes Melody different from all the other trainers, and there have been many over the past 30 years, is that she is serious about training, and by that I mean passionate and dedicated and intelligent and incredibly professional.
These are the things Melody has been able to do for me:
– Make training varied and fun. Every session is a new adventure, and I can’t guess ahead of time what we will do. And it is always customized for me and what challenges I need.
– Motivate me to try when the difficulty seemed too huge
– Push me to the limits of my physical ability so that I could improve
– Teach me to stop when it’s too much
– Teach me to listen to my body, and not train when I am sick or injured
– Open my eyes when she showed me that pressure massage and acupuncture completely cured all of the pains that I endured trying to go from inactive to active
– Teach me to not push through pain but instead to listen to my body and she would stop and customize any exercise that was not working for me
– Teach me and inspire me on good nutrition
– Teach me the amazing kettlebell workouts that I find are a powerful tool for getting into shape and improving cardio capacity – really amazing tools but you need an expert to teach you good form or you can hurt yourself. Melody is humble but you should know she is the kind of trainer that teaches other trainers.
– Encourage me when my physical challenges get me down
– Never lose patience with me even when my struggles make me a challenge in many ways
– Never give up on me and help me not give up on myself
Melody has done for me what even doctors and physical therapists couldn’t do: She has helped improve the quality of my life.
And she has helped me get back some of the hope and self-confidence that my health struggles took away. A careless surgeon brought my life down around me nine years ago, and no one ever helped me since, not doctors, not physical therapists, not teachers nor trainers, until I met Melody. Some tried to help me, but all gave up because it is difficult and progress is slow and gruelling. Her patience and talent make her more than a trainer, she is a real healer.
And she gives a damn. She really does. You would be lucky to get to train with Melody. I would consider myself lucky, but of course, for me, it is written. 🙂
Last but not least, she has a great sense of humor and makes me laugh, and that is also a very important quality in a trainer.
